VolunteerING

Give your time to help keep our neighbors fed. Volunteers usually commit to volunteering two-four hours every week.

Community service

Community Service is separate from volunteering. This is reserved for those who need to fulfill court-ordered community service hours. Visit our Community Service page if this applies to you.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERING

Students who need to fulfill a volunteer requirement for school can fill out the Student Volunteer Application.

 FOOD CLOSET

The Salt Mine Food Closet is where we distribute food boxes to residents of Lincoln and Sheridan. Click the button below to learn more about hours, services, and location.

 THRIFT STORE

The Salt Mine Thrift Store is where we process and sell donated items. All profits go to the Food Closet. Click the button below to learn more about hours and location.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

meet your Volunteer coordinator

You will be introduced to your Volunteer Coordinator, who will work hard to find the best place for you. If you have any questions, you will be able to contact them for support.

Volunteer opportunities will vary based on current availability and the community's greatest needs. Thank you for being willing to serve wherever is needed!

volunteering with children

Please note that your Volunteer Coordinator must approve any request to bring your children to volunteer with you. If you have a question about this, you can ask your Volunteer Coordinator.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERING

STUDENT VOLUNTEER FORM

If you are a high school or college student needing to fulfill volunteer hours for school, please fill out the Student Volunteer Application.

PERMISSION FORM

If you are under 18 years old, your parent will be sent a Student Volunteer Permission Form. Your parent/guardian must sign this form for you to proceed with volunteering. 

Student policies

If you are a parent of a minor who is interested in volunteering, please read our Student Volunteer Policies. These are in place for the protection of minors volunteering on our premises.
